11 Government Departments Win Excellence Awards
Dubai: 14 May, 2007 - Eleven government
departments and establishments were honoured at the
Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP) Awards 2007
held today at Madinat Jumeirah.
The programme administrators expressed satisfaction with
the results, which has seen an increase in the number of
awards since its inception in 1998. This reflects the
programme’s growing appeal among government
organisations, which use the DGEP criteria as a key tool
for benchmarking excellence.
List of the DGEP Award winners:
Dubai Land Department received the award for
customer satisfaction for the third consecutive year.
The department topped the list of local departments with
a score of 74 per cent.
The Distinguished Team award was given to both "Operation
Midnight" - Dubai Police and ’Emirates
News‘ from Dubai TV. The Dubai Police team embodies
the spirit of positive cooperation at the government
level and has implemented an integrated plan including
defining the responsibilities and indicators of success.
The ’Emirates News‘ team was awarded for its efforts and
achievements in education, community service and for
establishing targets and specific performance criteria
with a clear and precise distribution of tasks and
responsibilities.
The Trade Point at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce
and Industry was presented with the Distinguished
Administrative Initiative award for providing
authentic and reliable information to the business
community and its positive cooperation with the small
and medium businesses.
The Distinguished Technical Project award was
given to Dubai Municipality for its ground water
injection project which encourages optimum utilisation
of water resources, using an effective methodology and
modern technologies. The award was also given to
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority's Predictive
Maintenance Project for electrical distribution
stations aimed at effective time management during
blackouts.
Distinguished Government Employee award was given
to Sultan Rashid Lootah from the Department of
Economic Development for his productivity and
successful supervision of technical systems. He was also
recognised for his management and leadership skills.
The Distinguished Administrative Employee award
was given to three winners - Adnan Ahmed Hussein Al
Hamadi, Roads and Transport Authority, for his
exceptional achievements, development and initiative;
Mohammed Suhail Salim Al Muhairi, Islamic Affairs
and Charitable Activities Department, for his
efforts, voluntary initiatives, his eagerness to upgrade
his skills, and for designing an integrated system for
the Quranic centres and Marwan Ahmed Bin Ghulaita,
Dubai Land Department, for his distinguished
leadership, supervisory abilities and keenness to
develop his professional skills.
The award for Distinguished Financial Employee
was given to Abdullah Hassan Al Jawi, Roads and
Transport Authority, for his professional skills and
his productivity, as well as his focus on the use of
modern technologies in improving his performance. The
same award is also shared by Huda Obaid Ojail Al
Suwaidi, Dubai Customs, for her multiple
achievements with positive impacts on rationalising
expenditure and increasing efficiency of financial
performance, despite her brief work experience.
The Distinguished Technical/Engineering Employee
award was given to Wasim Mohammed Hussein, Dubai
Electricity and Water Authority, for his effective
management and design of distinctive projects. He was
also recognized for his capabilities in the preparation
of studies and technical reports, which resulted in
significant financial savings. Yousuf Yousuf Ahmed
Shams, Dubai Municipality, was also awarded for his
role in preparing a plan for information systems as well
as his diverse creative initiatives.
The prize for Distinguished Specialized Employee
was awarded to Ali Ahmed Alyan, Dubai
Municipality, for his dedication and commitment, and the
preparation of studies and methodologies for integrated
action. He has introduced new ideas that have
contributed to improving performance in municipal
laboratories. The award was also given to Eng. Salem
Ali Al Shafei, Roads and Transport Authority, for
his distinctive capabilities in planning and supervisory
skills, and his effective communication skills.
The Distinguished Field Employee award was given
to Abdul Salam Mohammed Khadem Al Shamsi, Dubai
Police, for his perfection in carrying out multiple
security tasks. He is known for his accuracy and speed
and is qualified for international relief work.
The Distinguished Female Employee award was given
to Dr. Manal Mohammed Omran Taryem, the
Department of Health and Medical Services. The award is
in recognition of her specialised professional skills
and for introducing new and sophisticated methods in the
treatment of eye diseases and her eagerness to keep up
with the latest medical developments.
The Distinguished New Employee award was given to
Dr. Fatma Mohammed Al Khumairi, Dubai Police, for
her continuous efforts in detecting crimes. She has
already been chosen by the International Criminal Court
as a leading Forensic doctor at the GCC level.
Meanwhile, Dubai Police was given a special award
for establishing nurseries for the children of its
female workers. The Department of Health and Medical
Services and Dubai Police were both given a
special award for their outstanding and fruitful
cooperation with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed's IT
ýEducation Project (ITEP) by ensuring employees obtain
the International Computer Driving License (ICDL).
