HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Grants AED50,000 Cash Bonus to DGEP Award Winners


Dubai: 15 May, 2007 - His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, has directed the Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP) Award winners to be given a cash bonus of AED50,000.


The cash prize, part of a package of incentives decreed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, also includes a work promotion for all winners, regardless of the date of their previous promotion. In all, there were 22 DGEP award winners in 11 categories, in addition to 11 innovators and 25 ‘Unsung Heroes’. The winner of the Distinguished Government Employee Award Sultan Ali Lutah from Dubai Economic Development Department, will receive AED100,000 as part of the royal incentive, plus a promotion. The DGEP awards were presented on 14 May at Madinat Jumeirah Arena.


His Highness Sheikh Mohammed’s move further reinforces his keenness in developing the government sector and raising its performance level to global standards. The aim of these incentives is to encourage employees in their pursuit of excellence.


The Dubai Government Excellence Programme Awards have succeeded in supporting the government’s plans to enhance productivity and performance while reducing costs. The programme also contributes towards spreading excellence, creativity and quality concepts besides ushering in international best practices.
