Under the Patronage of His Highness
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum
Dubai Government Excellence
Programme Winners to be Honoured
Dubai: 9 May, 2007 - Under the Patronage of
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice
President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of
Dubai, the Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP)
award winners will be honoured on Monday, 14 May at
1:30pm.
A number of ministers, directors of government
departments, senior officials and dignitaries from
various institutions will attend the ceremony.
This year’s DGEP awards recognise distinctive team and
individual achievements in 11 categories. These include
Distinguished Team, Administrative Initiative, Technical
Project, Government Employee, Administrative Employee,
Financial Employee, Technical/Engineering Employee,
Specialised Employee, Field Employee, Female Employee
and New Employee.
The winners will be announced during the next few days.
The DGEP recently announced it had completed evaluating
the 132 applications from Dubai government employees.
The entries were submitted by various departments,
project teams and other staff.
Ahmed Bin Byat, Secretary General of the Dubai Executive
Council, and Chairman of DGEP, said the applications
were assessed with the highest standards of integrity
and objectivity.
Bin Byat added: "The number of entries reflects the
significant improvement in performance levels of
government employees. It also shows how workplace
excellence has now been integrated into the functioning
of government departments.”
He pointed out the programme ensures every employee
receives the recognition he, or she, deserves for his,
or her, outstanding efforts and effective performance.
Bin Byatt added: "Selecting a winning team, or a winning
employee, does not mean that others do not deserve the
appreciation. This is a natural result of any
competition. Participants must understand that they have
already achieved success just by being nominated by
their respective departments.
“The DGEP team has prepared a brief report on every
candidate, with its observations and proposals on the
performance of each of them. The report includes their
strengths and excellence which deserve to be recognised
and areas where they need support.
“The DGEP team will send the reports to the head of each
government department. This will contribute to building
their knowledge and developing their talent and
potential.”
